Archival inkjet prints

In the late 00's I developed a new approach to abstract shapes very different from my sphere and geometry patterns through a regular practice of making ink line drawings in sketchbooks. In 2014 I took scans of some of these drawings and added colors with Photoshop but I had a hard time deciding what to do with them. I don't like the idea of reproductions but with digital art it is the only way to make them physical. I didn't want to release them all as unlimited open editions but decided instead to take some and make signed and numbered limited edition archival inkjet prints that would retain some level of rarity as objects of art. These I have printed in my own studio in editions of eight or nine prints with one to three proofs each. By limiting the editions it also pushes me to keep making new works. I think and feel very differently about the mandalas in the series. They grew out of the same practice but I have made vastly more. I almost see them like meditation beads well suited to displaying as sets and applied to various artifacts like boxes and coaster sets.
